Group Processes and Work Teams

Team A team is small number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable. Self-directed teams are given autonomy over deciding how a job will be done. A clear direction also means that team outcomes are measurable. Leaders of these teams generally emerge from the membership and are not appointed by anyone in the organization. An effective team is generally one in which members are empowered to make decisions about how to get work done.
